Job Description
The R&D Technician will be a key member of an experienced engineering team based in Oxford, developing a novel neurovascular implant and delivery wire to treat intracranial aneurysms. The purpose of this role is to build small medical device prototypes according to verbal and/or drawing specifications and support internal testing activities under supervision from R&D Engineers.
Duties and responsibilities
- Fabricate small medical device prototypes according to verbal and/or drawing specifications.
- Maintain written records of materials used, procedures followed and inspection methodologies.
- Identify process/quality defects and manufacturing challenges and report to R&D Engineers.
- Take ownership for the organisation, maintenance, cleanliness and storage of all lab equipment, materials, components and surfaces.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections on prototypes.
- Compile and analyse measurement and testing data results.
- Support or perform internal testing of prototypes in accordance with written protocols and test procedures.
Qualifications
- HND or degree in an engineering discipline.
- 0-3 years of experience as an operator, assembler or technician (preferably medical device experience)
- Knowledge of processes and/or machinery and equipment used in the development, production and inspection of medical devices
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
- High level of dexterity
- Ability to assemble small parts using a microscope for prolonged periods
- Ability to interpret engineering drawing specifications
- Good written and oral communication
- Attention to detail and a willingness to acquire new skills and learn on a daily basis is essential for this role
Working conditions
The individual is required to be on-site to fulfil their duties and responsibilities.
Physical requirements
This job requires the assembly of small components under a microscope for prolonged periods.
